Zenyatta!
Rachel Alexandra!
From the Victoria Advocate, The Discovery Channel show, “Dirty Jobs”, will be airing a segment about Kentucky Equine Research, a consulting firm to feed manufacturers. Story here.
Mike Rowe- what a cutie! In a show featuring horses no less! Must see TV, in my opinion!
It took some searching, but here’s the show description from the Discovery Channel website:
“Dirty Jobs
Horse Tester
TV-PG (L)
Mike travels to Kentucky Equine Research Facility to assist with testing athletic horses. His duties include helping with blood testing during a fitness test and checking pH levels in fresh poo.”
How many blankets do you have? I have a blue canvas rug, now all moldy in the basement. I have a purple Schneider's belly wrap heavy weight blanket. i have a blue & green medium weight winter blanket. I have a black quilted stable blanket, and a light weight purple lined sheet. I have a green waterproof Schneider's sheet, and a fluorescent Polar tech sheet. The rider just got a purple plaid dress blanket. Oh- and I have a blue fleece cooler, and bright red polar fleece cooler.
every 6 or 7 weeks we get new shoes. Some years we luck out, timing-wise, as far as snow shoes are concerned. This year, not so much. We typically get our first significant snow fall in mid-December. This usually melts. The snow shoes are more helpful in ice, or compacted snow. But today was our appointment, and if we waited until next time, that would be at the end of December for snows. After consultation with the rider, we opted to put the snows on today, even though it’s a little early. Waiting at least another 2 weeks would be optimum, but that’s the way the anvil falls.
The BO is getting herself another new Appy- a 2-year old mare that cleaned up at Worlds. This on the heels of bringing home for the first time her 3-year old gelding that she bought as a yearling. They’ll both live together with their 6-year old Appy “sister”, and 25 (?) year-old retired Appy aunt.
And an OTTB, an Andelusian, and another Appy and a Shetland pony in a pear tree.
and dressage to the Rolling Stones is a bonus!
it isn’t perfection, but the flying changes in sync is cool!
With all the pre-race hype I was getting nervous for her. After the race was over, at least she didn’t end up like Ruffian. %^(
I could see right out of the gate she had a horrible start- she left the gate at least a stride behind everyone else, then got pinched to the rear of the pack.
It was remarkable that she was able to even have a chance to finish in the money, much less lose by a head. Maybe if the race was 1/4 mile longer? Who knows?
The race starts at 6:15 on ESPN
